Notes

Brief

Mossgrain releases about twelve records a year: ambient music and field recordings from Scotland. Each sleeve had been designed from scratch, so the label was hard to recognise in a shop.

Work

We made a system instead of single covers. Every sleeve carries a waveform drawn from the record’s first minute, printed in one colour on uncoated stock. The catalogue number and the place of the recording sit on the spine. Two paper colours mark the two series.

  • Sleeve and label system
  • Catalogue numbering and spine design
  • Paper and print specification

Result

Twenty-four releases use the system so far. The printer keeps both paper stocks in store.
